One of our top suggestions for anyone traveling to the island is to visit Watermelon Cay because it mixes hiking, snorkeling, and history. Parking is available in the lot next to Leinster Bay.

  • Haulover North:

Haulover North is possibly the greatest place to go snorkeling on the island. Located on St. John’s secluded East End, positioned near the National Park’s furthest eastern edge. You will travel a short distance—perhaps 100 yards—on a small trail. A “beach” made of coral debris can be found there.

Where the sand is closest to the beach – the bay’s apex – is the finest place to enter. Snorkel to the left from there. Dramatic reef architecture, a fantastic forest of corals and sea fans, and vibrant marine life everywhere you turn.

  • Maho Bay:

Maho Bay Beach is one of the top choices for beaches where you can encounter sea turtles! There are large seagrass meadows, a shallow entryway into the water, and a protected bay present here. The typical reward for snorkelers is a short beach swim.

You can find patch reefs in shallow water on each end of the beach. This National Park beach is a favorite among families, particularly those with young children, as it has plenty of parking, restrooms, and shallow sandy water.
